TRAVEL THAT GIVES BACK

WE’RE COVERING YOUR TRACKS

We are delighted to have partnered with Ecologi, bringing simple and impactful ways to take climate action today.

Working together towards offsetting the carbon footprint of our valued customers.

In the midst of a climate and biodiversity crisis, we’ve turned to nature. We want to do the right things to preserve the beautiful world that we live in and are privileged enough to explore through modern travel; To ensure that its many treasures and wonders are looked after for generations to come is a key priority. It’s for that reason we want to give back to the environment by planting 10 trees around the world for every booking we make, to help reduce the carbon footprint of our customers travelling the globe.

WE PLANT 5 TREES
FOR EVERY BOOKING

THAT’S 4,195 TREES SINCE JAN 2023

REFORESTING & CARBON OFFSETTING PROJECTS

Here are just a few examples of the many incredibly valuable projects currently being undertaken by Ecologi and their partners around the globe, to which we and all of our customers are contributing towards, through our ‘Travel That Gives Back’ initiative.

Whilst we are contributing to reforestation projects in particular, Ecologi are operating a wide variety of schemes including renewable energy initiatives, protecting rainforests, and working to support local communities around the globe in protecting their natural surroundings.

RESTORING GEWOCHA FOREST, ETHOPIA

This project aims to restore 10,000 hectares of degraded land in the Amhara region of Ethiopia by supporting the introduction of 11.9 million trees, in collaboration with The Hunger Project. These will be introduced by three methods: planting, assisted natural regeneration, and conservation.

protecting cambodian rainforest

Cambodia’s rainforests are some of the most biodiverse in the world. In fact, this project is taking place in one of the 200 most important locations for biodiversity conservation on the planet: the Cardamom Mountains Rainforest Ecoregion.

It is a critical habitat for significant populations of many IUCN listed species, including Asian elephant, Asiatic black bear, sun bear, large spotted civet, and clouded leopard.

PLANTING FOREST GARDENS IN TANZANIA

Tanzania’s natural resources are under threat, and approximately only one third of the country’s environment is formally protected. Due to agricultural expansion and increased urbanisation, it is estimated that Tanzania has lost at least one-third of its ecosystems and biodiversity hosted within forests and wooded areas over the past few decades. In addition, overexploitation, land degradation, and deforestation are some of the key drivers amplifying these issues.

mangrove planting in madagascar

In recent years, vast areas of Madagascar’s original forests have been destroyed, displacing entire animal species and diminishing local people’s ability to farm and live on the land. Entire mangrove estuaries are also gone, leaving the bare earth to wash away into the sea. These mangrove forests are not only crucial carbon sinks, they also provide habitats for a wide range of marine species that live in the shallows, and provide vital coastal protection from floods and storms.

that’s not all.. we’re taking it even further

We’re going one step further to ensure that Sustainable Travel sits at the heart of what we do.

  • It is our aim to not only provide you with all the detail you might need in order to decide on your preferred accommodation, but to also highlight their credentials when it comes to their sustainability efforts and commitments. Have they removed single-use plastics from their hotel? Do they source all food locally and responsibly? Are they investing some of their profits back into the local community? Are the running on renewable energy? These are all valid questions that can help you decide whether a property is the right one for you. That’s why we feature a Sustainability Scale on our proposals, with a score out of three given to each property proposed, along with a summary of their eco-credentials.

  • Where possible, and where it meets your itinerary requirements, we aim to propose flights which will fly on the most fuel-efficient aircraft to help reduce emissions. This will include the likes of Airbus 3550 XWB, Boeing 737 Dreamliner, Airbus A320 Neo and A350-900, to name a few.

  • We will calculate the carbon footprint from all flights included within your itinerary, and advise how you can offset this footprint through appropriate projects currently underway. Giving you the opportunity to be a responsible, and aware, traveller.

  • We calculate the carbon emissions caused in all areas of our business operations, and then make a donation to carbon-offsetting projects to equally balance the impact. The energy used by our team whilst working from home, along with the knock-on impact that every single purchase we make might have, and any related logistics this may cause, is measured.
