austria
Magnificent snow-capped mountains and rolling hills of glorious green – the lofty Alpine landscapes of Austria really are a spectacular sight.
Delightful 18th-century villages dotted with baroque spires are reminiscent to those from fairy tales, and there are so many luscious valleys and flower-flecked meadows, you will be hard stretched not to burst into song!
It comes as no surprise this landscape has inspired so many world-class artists and musicians - many of whom have left their mark at the beautiful palaces, museums and galleries of Salzburg and Vienna. A leisurely hop-on hop-off tour of Vienna’s Grand Ringstrasse is an excellent way to explore the city’s opera house, national libraries and museums before diving into a delectable coffee house for a buttery, raisin filled pastry. Yum.
Meanwhile, the soaring mountain tops are outstanding for adrenaline seekers with the high altitudes delivering unbeatable conditions for winter sport thrills and raucous après ski.
